Welcome to Zartaraa! We're excited to share our story with you.
Zartaraa is an amalgamation of two beautiful words — Zar, meaning gold, and Taara, meaning star. Together, they reflect the very essence of our bags: shimmering metallic beads, pearls and intricate embellishments, individually embroidered by hand to create pieces that catch the light like little stars.
At the heart of Zartaraa lies inspiration from the rich tradition of Zari-Zardozi, an intricate form of hand embroidery deeply woven into the cultural heritage of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh,India .Zardozi transforms a simple surface into something ornate, luminous and extraordinary. The city's historic batuas — delicately embroidered purses once favored by the Begums of Bhopal — became expressions of both utility and artistry. The Begums are widely associated with encouraging and patronizing fine craftsmanship in the region, helping intricate techniques such as Zardozi become part of the regions distinctive design heritage.Even today, the craft continues through skilled artisans , where generations of knowledge live on through meticulous handwork.
Zartaraa brings that spirit into the present — Designed to move effortlessly from traditional celebrations to modern evenings, Zartaraa bags are timeless pieces made to be carried and loved across generations. Each piece is a little bit of gold, a little bit of starlight, and a story made by hand
Growing up in I was surrounded by these beautifully handcrafted bags—carried by my mother, aunts, and generations of women around me. Zartaraa is my way of bringing a piece of that heritage to this side of the world.
